For motorcyclists, many dangers and risks are present on the roadways. Even when the rider and their passengers take precautions such as wearing a helmet, if a negligent driver strikes the motorcycle or causes it to lose control, this could lead to serious and even fatal injuries. These small vehicles can easily go unnoticed due to their ability to hide in a driver’s blind spot. If a driver fails to check their blind spots, they could collide with the motorcyclist and cause a fatal motorcycle accident.
It was recently reported that a motorcyclist died from the injuries he suffered in a crash that occurred last month. According to reports from the Florida Highway Patrol, the 33-year-old motorcyclist was traveling south on Alfaya Trail when he was struck by an SUV traveling northbound at around 11 p.m.
The collision occurred when the SUV attempted to make a left turn. The impact of the crash caused the motorcyclist to eject from his bike. Police indicated that he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the motorcycle accident. The biker was transported to the hospital for medical treatment where he died a month later from the serious injuries that he suffered.
Investigation is still ongoing and charges are currently pending against the 24-year-old driver of the SUV. In addition to facing criminal penalties, the driver could also endure civil liabilities. The loved ones of the deceased motorcyclist could file a wrongful death claim against the negligent driver. This could allow them to recover a monetary award to cover expenses associated with the crash.
The lives of many could be affected by the negligence of a driver. The loved ones of the deceased victim often endure numerous expenses while they are dealing with the emotions associated to the incident. Understanding what forms of relief may be available could help them alleviate financial burdens while also helping them cope with their loss.
